The lights to the main security office where set to low, just the way Lee Panthera liked it as he sat in front of the security station computer it’s soft glow emitting about him. He had spent a while studying the data he had been compiling over the last few weeks. It came from various sources both local and afar, some trusted while others that were not where simply a source to allow Intel on other interests to verify or confirm such information. There were several windows open to different applications, some routine and others with a special purpose and that where only to which Panthera himself had designed and was able to use. He went over a few lines to confirm his findings and then began to close them one at a time committing to memory what he felt was important. As the files closed they were automatically ultra encrypted and hidden with other files. He turned off his computer and leaned back in his chair listening intensely about him, the sounds of the security room with its active computers and other equipment. He could also here the activity of what was going on out on the bar floor despite the security door and the sound proof walls. To Shinobi sound proof meant sound retaining, whatever noise struck and object weather it was designed to keep it out or in the sound still had to impact off it, the remaining residual sound lasting long enough for a Shinobi to allow their senses to disseminate it. He smiled and got up out of his chair and moved to the door touching the handle and closed his eyes. Yep, business as usual and he left the security office and entered into the bar floor which was to the rear of the bar counter.
The place was fairly active, a few patrons had established in groups while others preferred a place to themselves. The staffs were placed in various places they felt served not only them but the patrons as well. A few newbie’s where here, apparently hired on by Demoan’s over seer of Nefarious Pleasures Luc while she was away whom which many missed her including himself. About a month ago she advised everyone she was going on a trip, one personal and very important. Lee asked no questions and respected her interests, but that did not mean he could not be concerned about her though he knew she could most certainly take care of herself. It was rather unusual not to hear from her in some form of communications however. Domino Naldrissa or who Lee referred to as Dommie was sitting on the bar corner doing her usual glances about the place watching over things as security and medical tech. She was a regular here as staff and one of the veterans including Luc, Dar, Vex and various others. Lee had just passed his one year mark a few months back. He moved to his corner behind the bar near the DJ booth and sat down making a slight nod to Dommie who did the same in return.
He glanced about the place looking at every corner of the place even all the way to the back of the bar floor and end tables. A couple of tables had patrons playing some serious bouts of poker with a moderate pot. The rules were simple here, do what you wish but leave the guns and blades put away, the drugs elsewhere, magic secured and your attitudes at the door. Which he sensed that there were a few here that felt different of the latter, his attention had become focused on a group by the back center table area. Three of them sat at the table with cards in hand, beer bottles scattered about and a chunk of change in the middle. Two of them one a tigeron the other a bullvine where becoming slightly more audible that most in the place the occasional curse or accusing of the others character concerning the game. Panthera made a glance to Dommie who didn’t have to be told what was going on, she had pretty much noticed the problem slightly before he did just before he had walked into the bar area from the security office.
“You know you’re not good at this, why don’t you just fold now and let Demar and I go at it!” the tigeron stated with a contemptible tone.
The bullvine snorted and made a gesture in the air towards the tigeron as he puffed from his cigar. “Says you!” he started. “You can’t even use your zipper to piss let alone play a game you fucking hairball!” The sound of liquid stupidity ringed loud in both of them.
Panthera decided to move out from behind the bar and started his way around his movement’s fluid like water. He made friendly smiles and nods to patrons at the bar not allowing his true focus to be seen as he walked around the back of the bar, he pated Dommie gently on the shoulder as he passed her rounding the back corner of the bar towards the end. Most of the patrons were into their own interests that they ether did not notice the two making loud comments or they didn’t care. As he came out from behind the bar a few patrons hanging around that part saw Panthera and made no hesitation about getting out of his way. He stopped a few tables away from them pressing his self up to the wall not allowing his movements to alarm anyone. The conversation was turning into more of a match of ignorance and pushing your luck and not with the game.
“I’m sure you’re going to lose you shit for brains!” started the Tigeron again.
The third player a lupine was showing signs of wishing he had found another table to play, he was playing rather well. In fact and maybe because so the other two felt a little intimidated where trying to make the other one seem to be the lesser player. Weather it was chance that the lupine ended up at this table or maybe he was good enough to spot a couple of suckers it was something he really did not care about at the moment.
The two kept at it. “So you shitwad! Why don’t you shut the fuck up and play. Not that you’re doing a very good job of it! The bullvine blasted out and pounded the table making a few bottles topple over, that did it for the tigeron and he roared standing up. Panthera was next to the tigeron before he had a chance to do anything other than roar.
“Excuse me gents!” Panthera began, putting a gentle hand on the tigeron’s shoulder and gesturing to the bullvine. “Before this wonderful game becomes spoiled due to a moment of passion may I suggest a recess, maybe a bigger table and a private room as well!?” Panthera figured it was worth a try despite the fact these two were perhaps inebriated beyond reason. The lupines glanced up to Panthera and then back and forth to the others his expression was slightly blank though his eyes pretty much where saying a lot. The tigeron pushed the panther’s paw of his shoulder and growled a low rumble before taking a long drink and tossing the bottle at Panthera, it just passing the left of his head over his shoulder. Panther did not even blink and he continued, Dommie watching on the bar shook her head; those two were about to get a quick lesson in NP educate.
“Now that was not a good thing to do, please come let’s all get a private game room and continue”. Panthera motioned to the nearby game rooms.
For a moment there was silence, but for only for a moment. The tigeron reached out to grab Panthera by the throat, all he got was air where the panther was making a grunt in frustration wheeling about trying to determine where the pantheron had gone too. It only was about a second he found out.
“Not interested I suppose, that’s too bad!” Panthera figured it was going to come to this but he had to give it a try. Besides it was policy for security people to try the compromise approach before breaking things, and patrons; for the exception of Demoan and Moral who would have jumped over the bar and proceeded to beat the shit out of both of them and throw them out, but then they where the bosses. He folded his arms and nodded his head to all of them. “So I guess this means that no one wants to take a break and cool off?”
“You’re taking a break fucker, to your neck!” Shouted the tigeron as he made a swing at Panthera. The tigeron's attack found nothing but empty space; Panthera turned his body slightly sliding a little to one side as he blocked the punch his other hand grabbed the upper part of the arm to the tigeron and made a slight tug making his momentum continue while also losing his balance. As he rushed past Panthera shifted his stance to follow the tigeron’s momentum making sure in the process the other two were not making any immediate movements or threats and with a quick thump like strike to the middle of the tigeron’s shoulders he went limp a slight sound of escaping air from his nostrils. Panthera grabbed his collar to keep him from hitting the floor as he slumped over.
He looked over to the others at the table their mouths hanging open. “So here are the deal guys. Divide the pot evenly and go about your business… you”. Panther pointing to the lupine. “You can stay! Take your share and find yourself another game or leave I don’t care which!”
The lupine took a card and slid it between the small pile of money on the table and cut it like a cake making even sections and then taking his share. He stood, looked around and nodded to Panthera and smiled. “It was a good game you know!” and he went about his business.
Panthera turned his attention to the Bullvine and spoke still holding his so called partner by the collar his knees slightly touching the floor. “You, take your share and get out! If you are still anywhere near this place in the next few minutes you can join this one in slumber land!” The bullvine slid the money into his small bag and was out the door making note to keep his mouth shut and not to look back. Dommie was standing behind him during the last few seconds ready to join the fun. He looked to her and smiled shaking his prisoner a little to see if he was coming around, a few moans confirmed that. Panthera hit him just enough to shock his system into a sudden state of confusion causing unconsciousness.
“Going to take the trash out, will right back!” he smiled pulling the tigeron to his feet as he headed out the door.
Panthera decided to take the patron to the front entrance lobby just adjacent to the parking lot to where he sat him down placing the bag of money on his lap. He patted the tigeron a few times on the face to make him come around more. The tigeron’s eyes opened and he blinked still a little light headed as a couple of regular guards come out to assist.
“Make sure our guest here is good enough to leave on his own, if not make arrangements to have him picked up by our usual services!” the guards acknowledge Panthera and took custody of the tigeron. “Oh and if he decides to be stupid again I don’t have a problem with you guys taking care of it just don’t go overboard, clear?” they again acknowledged his orders and saw to them as Panthera decided to take a walk around the outside for a bit.
The parking lot lights glowed evenly about the place, various patrons outside making small talk here and there as he walked though making his way to the staff section. As he began to stroll though he saw Demoan’s Skyline parked in its spot a slight amount of dust and dirt had settled on it. He made a note to have it washed in the morning by a special contract crew Demboss preferred. His Porsche was just next to hers in the second slot in which he walked over to and saw something on the windshield wiper, a note made of rice paper. He removed it gently and unfolded it and recognized the hard writing, it read…
“Everything is good - all is well. Hope you can keep Dar from blowing up the bar!”
He looked around for a moment and smiled. “Get back soon lady, a lot of people miss you!” he said quietly to himself.
Putting the note in his pocket he turned and went back to work.
