Dom Vs sub Vs Switch?

Yeah yeah I know odd title.

But this stemmed from a very interesting thought I had yesterday on my livejournal where I was talking to my BDSM buddies {the few that they are} about this topic.

Is a Dom considered a Dom by their personality or by their actions in the bedroom...or both? or is it a whole other category when it stems to that?

I always thought of myself as a sub, simply because that's how I naturally felt in a bedroom sense. In actuality by this point I'm really a switch with a sub preference. I would rather be the sub simply because I like people taking control of situations like that most of the time

However according to my numerous friends who have known me for years. They view me as a Dom. Because personality wise, unless I meet someone who is more Dom than I am, I tend to be very...well I get put as a top dog so to speak xD. I'm the Mother Hen that everyone comes running to, that and my boyfriends end up....um, susceptible to turning from Doms to switches. I take control of the situation and expect things to be certain ways. The boys at work know what's to be expected of them and if it's not completed they fear my wrath. *ahems*

Which begs the question where does one truly define a Dom/sub/switch?

Right now I call myself a closet Dom, I'm not openly admitting I am. Because I don't feel like I'm one. It's just instinct a majority of the time. And the few times I've actually met a Dom that's um..more so than I am I end up tongue tied >.o I dunno it's weird. xD Opinion?

My opinion would be yes you are a switch. Depending on the situations you sway one way or the other. Myself I am a Dom. Personality and how I carry myself. I do not sucome to anyone nor do I relinquish control to anyone. I may give them graces of choosing things but I retain the ability to over ride said choices. I am mellow and laid back but I am pure Dom. It is how you FEEL that makes you what you are. Just saying your Dom doesnt make you one if your submitting to others.

I'd say you're switch. It makes sense. I also think that personality would have a point to it, but at the same time, how you act to friends and how you deal with your boyfriend can be different things, so in a sense, it's just how you look at it. Some people see one thing, the others see another. It's just how it goes.

I'll say this now. In the bedroom? I've got the biggest dominance complex on the planet. I'll fight back, push around and be rather aggressive in the bedroom. I like the thrill. Even though I'm a "little" girl. I might not win, but I ain't givin' up.

Personality wise? I'm... more laid back, I guess. With all my friends, I'm in charge, people take me seriously. I'm strong willed, yet I don't rule with an iron-fist. I can kick back, relax, but that's cause no one tends to question me too often.

With relationships? Hell... I like my guy to be my partner.... be equals. No one tells anyone what to do, but then we work together. It's a partnership, not a dictatorship. Team work, it takes two ta tango, no? So I like my guys with a backbone.

It makes it more fun in bed. XD

But seriously. You gotta look at it from all sides, I guess.

Dom sub switch. I get the creative point, you see, it all depends the attitude within the bedroom. The way I view it is, maybe you aren't both surely dom, or dub. you're switch unless you strictly lay there and take the kinks forced upon you! Bedroom wise that is. Tawny's feminine, but seriously protective, and a major dominate bastard, to most that is. Though, bedroom wise, he's a bottom boy, 90% of the time.

If it is only part of you in the bedroom, then maybe it is just a kink? Furc lets people play sides of themselves they might not have ever seen. It also lets them say “Dom” or “Sub” at will. I say have fun with it.
I will work with Doms if I respect them. Like any team sport, Doms serve under other Doms if they all think the goal is worthwhile. If there is no respect? They can fuckoff. And we have all seen the pretenders come into the bar. If this was a real bar it would be hilarious to watch these people come in.
I don’t think Dom is what most see/believe here in Furc. I do what I want. End of story. If I do what someone asks /tells me to do it is because I want to help. It is my choice. ITRW I am Dom simply because I am big. If I wanted to be a sub I’d have to actively choose that path. That is a different path from letting people have their way. For me, letting people have their way is still a choice I let them have. I am very easy going, will let a lot of shit slide, and I have a lot of fun but it is all my choice.
